Device Management Application(DMA)
Help parents understand the DMA and make an informed choice about after-school settings.
What is the Device Management Application?
The Device Management Application (DMA) is installed on students’ PLDs to support a safe and conducive digital learning environment. It helps the school manage devices and learning applications, support classroom activities and protect students from inappropriate online content.

Current solution: Bendemeer’s Chromebook PLDs use Lightspeed Systems® as the MOE DMA solution. MOE funds the DMA. It applies to school-purchased and approved student-owned devices, and is removed when the student graduates or leaves the school.
What does the DMA do?
Device management
Installs applications required for teaching and learning.
Applies operating-system, application and security updates.
Supports device enrolment and management.
Filters objectionable or unsuitable online content.
Classroom management
Helps teachers guide students’ use of PLDs during lessons.
Allows teachers to open required applications and websites.
Supports screen sharing and the distribution of lesson content.
Allows teachers to view or manage students’ screens during lessons when required.
Usage management
Supports content filtering after school.
Provides screen-time or browsing controls under applicable settings.
Manages access to additional applications.
Provides parent controls under the applicable option.

Choosing the right option
Default setting
Suitable for families who prefer the school’s learning-focused restrictions to continue after school hours.
Option A
Suitable for parents who want access to parent controls and the ability to request adjustments to selected restrictions after school hours.
Option B
Suitable for parents who prefer the DMA to be inactive after school hours and who will take full responsibility for managing device use at home.

Discuss responsible device use with your child.

What the DMA does not collect?
Login IDs and passwords entered into websites or applications
Actions such as posts, comments or items added to a shopping cart
Documents and photographs stored on the PLD
The PLD’s location
Webcam video or microphone recordings
The parent engagement material states that website URLs accessed by students are deleted at the end of each term, while device and account-related data are deleted when the student graduates or leaves the school.
