Learning for Life Programme
Bendemeer Secondary's Learning for Life Programme builds students into community youth leaders. Find out how the four-year programme develops leadership skills through real-world community projects.
Our Learning Outcomes
Bendemeer Secondary School’s Learning for Life Programme (LLP) aims to develop all students into Community Youth Leaders who contribute meaningfully to the community, through the learning and application of values, knowledge and skills. The programme provides opportunities for students to broaden their understanding of the needs of the community through authentic experiences and deepens their leadership skills and attitudes. Through initiatives organized, students will acquire and sharpen leadership competencies as they progresse from Self Leadership to Team Leadership and then to Thought Leadership.
Our Approach - The 4As Growth Continuum (Aware, Action, Advocate, Agency)
The 4As Growth Continuum highlights the key focuses of each stage in a student’s community youth leadership journey — from building self-awareness to taking purposeful action, developing the voice to advocate, and finally demonstrating agency. It charts how students grow from Awareness to Advocacy, learning to lead with heart and serve with purpose, as they translate empathy into action and character into contribution within school and community.

Our Programme
Our Community Youth Leadership programme provides progressive, level-based opportunities for students to serve different segments of the community. Courage students strengthen appreciation and care within the school community; Adaptability students build intergenerational bonds with seniors; Respect students promote inclusion through engagements with persons with disabilities and children; and Excellence students develop civic responsibility through sustainability and community projects. Through these authentic partnerships, students apply empathy, deepen their understanding of community needs and contribute meaningfully to society.
Our Talent Development Programme
Tier 2 of the LLP provides student leaders with opportunities to deepen their leadership competencies through a partnership with CARE Singapore. Based on their interests, students collaborate with different community organisations to plan and facilitate meaningful activities. Progressing from Advocate to Agency in our 4As framework, they learn to champion causes they care about before taking ownership of initiatives that create a positive impact. Through these experiences, they apply empathy, teamwork and communication skills while building meaningful relationships and contributing to the community.
Through the Get INclusive! programme, our Peer Support Leaders (PSLs) take on the role of advocates by organising and leading in-house initiatives that promote inclusivity and celebrate diversity, including the Purple Parade. As they grow in confidence and leadership, they develop agency by taking ownership of meaningful causes, positively influencing others and helping to build a caring school community where everyone belongs.
